The Donor Wall Project investigates the artist as commodity. If the artist has become a commodity why not circumvent the art altogether when you can own an actual piece of the artist? The purpose of this project is that if someone wants to own a piece they will have to choose based solely on an aesthetic decision. 72 artists generously donated their blood to create individual bio-portraits. Each artist’s blood has been painted on a 3”x 3” square of paper, framed and hung in a grid, reducing the identity of the subject to its most primal component – the chemical breakdown of the artist.
