Skivega
Created for the inaugural exhibition Good Witch Bad Witch at the Museum of Museums, “Skivega” binds the words give and ask. The language of witchcraft is written in offering and sacrifice for blessings, protection, fertility, abundance and maybe a little vengeance. Between blood and moon – transcend, transmute and ascend.
The hair comes from multiple donors and is hand-dyed. The technique comes from the traditional Victorian hair wreaths. The text and symbology are drawn from multiple sources over many centuries.

The blood of the artist is a potent substance that resonates more than any pigment. I work with a medical professional to extract small amounts at a time and am myself a certified phlebotomist.
