Inspired by alchemists and 19^th century naturalists, this exhibition provided an opportunity to experiment, intuitively applying scientific methodologies, working with fundamental materials integral to life: iron, salt, sugar and blood.

I have grown crystals from my own blood combined with salts or sugar, chronicled personal theories and observations in a series of tiny books, the POATS, and documented my personal chemistries in 2-D and 3-D work.

I experienced unexpectedly beautiful results and tremendous failures. Many experiments met a timely end with a bottle of bleach.

Being human is messy and unpredictable, but I remain in awe of our bodies, how they work, regenerate, decay. It can be ghastly or gorgeous depending on your perspective.
